Install OpenPets

Download and launch the OpenPets desktop app on macOS, Windows, or Linux.

OpenPets is distributed from the public GitHub releases page.

open https://github.com/alvinunreal/openpets/releases/latest

Choose an asset

Platform Download
macOS Apple Silicon OpenPets-*-mac-arm64.dmg
macOS Intel OpenPets-*-mac-x64.dmg
Windows OpenPets-*-win-x64-setup.exe
Linux OpenPets-*-linux-x86_64.AppImage

Windows release installers are signed. macOS builds may still be unsigned, so macOS can show a security warning the first time you open the app.

macOS quarantine note

If macOS blocks the app after you drag it into Applications, remove the quarantine attribute:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/OpenPets.app

Then open OpenPets again.

Linux note

The Linux AppImage is the main portable package. Make it executable if your file manager does not offer to run it:

chmod +x OpenPets-*-linux-x86_64.AppImage

OpenPets has dedicated Wayland notes for drag and window behavior in Wayland.

After launch

OpenPets adds a tray/menu bar icon and shows a pet on the desktop. Use the Control Center to manage pets, integrations, plugins, and settings.

If the app starts but a CLI or agent cannot reach it, run:

npx @open-pets/cli status

Then continue with Troubleshooting.
